February 17, 2022 Masking Update

Beginning Friday, February 18, TCAPS will recommend, but not require, masks be worn in all TCAPS facilities.  As we prepare for this change, I am providing the following points of clarity.

If you have additional questions beyond what is noted, please contact your building principal for assistance.

  • All TCAPS building and classroom signage will “recommend” individuals wear masks, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Masks remain a federal requirement for all individuals on all school buses and Head Start programming.
  • KN95 and paper masks will continue to be available for all students, staff and visitors who choose to wear them.
  • Mask shaming will not be tolerated and should be reported to building administration. Normal processes for disciplinary measures will be followed.
  • Parent teacher conferences will be available either in person or virtually, to best accommodate the needs of all families.
  • Volunteers may enter buildings with prior administrative approval.
  • All cleaning and safety protocols will continue, including hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes in classrooms, and the use of Clorox 360 machines.
  • The District will continue with the COVID-19 notification and daily reporting processes in conjunction with the Grand Traverse County Health Department.
  • The District will continue with daily monitoring of student attendance rates, staff attendance including substitute fill rates, and COVID data.
  • The Superintendent will continue regular communication with the Board of Education.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate the ongoing challenges that coincide with teaching and learning during this unprecedented experience.
