SRCS "Return to School” Rapid Home COVID-19 Testing Information & Instructions

Dear San Rafael City Schools Community,

We are excited to share information about our “Return to School” Rapid Home COVID-19 Testing efforts to help keep our schools safe following Winter Break. We strongly recommend all students and staff take a rapid test one day prior to returning to school or work. All positive results should be reported to your school office.

INSTRUCTIONS

How to Get a Test:
All students and staff are being given an iHealth COVID-19 Rapid Test Kit at school or work this week. If you do not receive a test kit by the end of this week, you can pick one up from your school’s front office on Monday, Jan. 3. Please contact the school office first.

When to Take the Test:
We strongly recommend all students and staff take one rapid test on the day before you return to school or work at the end of Winter Break. This means that students should take a test on Monday, Jan. 3.

How to Take the Test:
Please read the instructions provided in the kit and watch the video below.

What to Do with the Test Results:
  • If the result is POSITIVE, isolate the positive individual and follow the direction of Public Health and your health care provider. Additionally, if your result is positive, call your school’s front office on Monday, Jan. 3. Do not come to school or work until your isolation period has ended.
  • If the result is NEGATIVE, the individual can return to school or work if symptom-free and fever-free for 24 hours without medication. At this time, it is not required to report a negative result.
  • We expect some positive results; schools and Public Health are ready to support families.
The iHealth Test Kits contain two tests. Only one test is needed for this post-holiday testing, and the other should be used in the event staff or students experience COVID-19 symptoms, whenever this may occur. If a test is used for symptoms, please notify your school’s front office if the result is positive.

Thank you for your support!
