Dear Uniondale Families,

As a follow-up to the messages the District had sent last week regarding threats against Lawrence Road Middle School and Turtle Hook Middle School, we wanted to inform you that the Nassau County Police Department has arrested a suspect.

The District cannot publicly provide detailed information regarding the investigation, as it is a police matter. Below is the alert distributed by the police department.

Threats of violence have absolutely no place in our schools. As a precautionary measure, the District will continue to have a heightened police presence at all school buildings when school resumes on Monday. Maintaining a safe and secure academic environment for our students, staff, faculty, and community is the Uniondale School District’s foremost priority.

Sincerely,

Monique Darrisaw-Akil, Ed.D.

ARREST MADE - Turtle Hook School Uniondale Social Media Threat

The First Squad has made an arrest of the individual responsible for the recent threat in Uniondale. NCPD Homeland Security collaborated with our contacts in the FBI to develop information regarding a person of interest.

The person of interest was located by First Squad detectives. This individual stated that they made a posting to cancel school and avoid a test. The images of the firearms were “stock” images from the internet and a thorough search was conducted of the residence with negative result for any weapons. The individual does not have any prior criminal history and it appears that it was meant as a prank and they are not responsible for any of the other social media postings.

The Juvenile involved is 15 years old. The Juvenile Delinquent was charged with PL 490.20 01 Making a Terroristic Threat and released on a Family Court Appearance Ticket.

Chè Fanmi Uniondale yo,

Kòm yon swivi mesaj Distri a te voye semèn pase a konsènan menas kont Lawrence Road Middle School ak Turtle Hook Middle School, nou te vle enfòme w ke Depatman Lapolis Konte Nassau te arete yon sispèk.

Distri a pa kapab bay enfòmasyon detaye piblikman konsènan ankèt la, paske se yon zafè lapolis. Anwo a se alèt la distribye pa depatman lapolis la.

Menas vyolans pa gen absoliman plas nan lekòl nou yo. Kòm yon mezi prekosyon, Distri a pral kontinye gen yon prezans lapolis ogmante nan tout bilding lekòl yo lè lekòl la rekòmanse nan Lendi. Kenbe yon anviwònman akademik ki an sekirite pou elèv nou yo, anplwaye yo, pwofesè yo ak kominote nou yo se pi gwo priyorite Distri Lekòl Uniondale a.

Sensèman,

Monique Darrisaw-Akil, Ed.D.

Sipèentandan Lekòl yo
